Holland & Holland 12-Bore No. 3 Sidelock Ejector | Hand Detachable Locks | 29" Barrels | Maker's Case w/ Charge Label

A distinctive Holland & Holland No. 3 grade 12-bore sidelock ejector, featuring hand detachable back-action locks—an uncommon feature typically reserved for the firm’s highest-grade guns and rifles. Though modest in its border engraving, the No. 3 is celebrated for its excellent quality, robust construction, and outstanding balance and weight distribution.

Introduced as the No. 3 model, this gun retailed for approximately £47 in the 1920s, in contrast to the firm’s Royal model at £120. After 1930, the No. 3 was rebranded as the Dominion.

This particular example is fitted with 29" barrels, with bright bores that ring with a clear tone. The barrels are on face, the action is tight, and mechanical function is excellent. Ejectors are in time, and the action features gold-inlaid cocking indicators.

The hand detachable sidelocks are among the most desirable features Holland & Holland offered, allowing for easy maintenance and a hallmark of higher-grade guns. While the engraving is minimal, the overall execution reflects the quality and care associated with the firm’s best work.

An opportunity to own a hand-detachable Holland sidelock. The gun reflects the understated elegance of a working gun, offering much of the firm’s top-tier craftsmanship at a fraction of the price.
